Celebrate Brisbane Neighbourhood Day

Neighbour Day is an annual celebration to connect you with your local Brisbane community. This year it will be held on Sunday, 27 March 2011. The event started in 2003 following the deaths of residents whose bodies were not discovered for some time.

Benefits
The sense of community that comes from being connected with your neighbours can provide many benefits including asking your neighbour to check your home, collect the mail or feed your pet while on holiday, an increased sense of security, particularly for older or vulnerable people, meeting like-minded people, such as fellow parents to share child minding, developing friendships amongst children and adults to celebrate with those affected by the January floods

Getting involved
Some suggestions for getting involved are: saying g’day and having a chat to your neighbour, invite them for a cup of tea, invite your neighbours to:
A barbeque
Afternoon tea
Lunch
A street party
A street garage sale
A picnic at a local park

If you need help with a neighbourhood gathering, you can contact your local Brisbane Councillor.
